980 VALENCIA STREET

980 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA

The 3rd Topdrawer store was opened in the bustling Mission district in San Francisco. In this city that is overpopulated with tech companies and its employees, Topdrawer is the perfect analog and creative outlet.

Design

We decided on creating a whole new feel for our Topdrawer stores by repurposing old fixtures like an old mail organizer, large glass cases, an old desk, and getting tables and shelves made with darker wood finishes to match those older fixtures. We used a waterfall shelving system for the bento category, a long runway for the notebook and pen tables, and mixed in some of the other shelves we used in the other stores as homage to them. I also designed and created a bag wall system that would allow the merchandiser to move the placement of the pegs to better display the bags.

BUILD

When building out the Valencia street location, it was an entirely new experience since it was in a new city with new rules and regulations I had to review. Getting permitting and design approval done for the space was the most time consuming part of the process. The build out went smoothly and we got the space finished just in time for the grand opening.

MERCHANDISE

Due to the variety of fixtures, it was more of a challenge to merchandise this store, but it also gave it more charm and character. We brought in an outside contractor to help give tips on how to merchandise and really elevated the whole space.
